Step-by-Step Fix Instructions

  1. 1

Safely lift the vehicle and spin individual wheels by hand to pinpoint which hub feels rough or loose.

  2. 2

Shake the tire at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions to check for excessive mechanical play.

  3. 3

Remove the wheel lug nuts, pull the tire off, and unbolt the brake caliper assembly from the spindle.

  4. 4

Slide off the iron brake rotor disc to expose the core wheel bearing flange bolts.

  5. 5

Use a heavy slide hammer tool to pull the rusted wheel bearing hub housing away from the steering knuckle.

  6. 6

Press a fresh mechanical wheel bearing hub assembly into place, torque the axle nut, and reinstall brakes.
